Benefits of Genicular Artery Embolization (GAE):
What is Genicular Artery Embolization?
Genicular Artery Embolization
An innovative new procedure called genicular artery embolization (GAE) allows people to achieve relief from knee pain without the need for surgery. GAE is a minimally invasive procedure performed in an outpatient setting. During a GAE procedure, our expertly trained physicians make a slight incision in the upper thigh and insert small catheters, aided by image-guided technology, to the arteries supplying the lining of the knee. Tiny particles are then injected into these arteries, blocking the blood flow, and reducing the inflammation, which alleviates the pain.
Minimally Invasive
Faster recovery time
No hospital stay
Fewer complications

Do you have Osteoarthritis pain in your knee?
Arthritis is the term used to describe stiff, swollen joints caused by swelling. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that can affect the many tissues of the joint. OA is caused by trauma or age-related wear and tear on the joints over time and is most likely to affect weight-bearing joints such as the knees. Injury or overuse, such as knee bending and repetitive stress on a joint, can damage a joint and increase the risk of OA in that joint. The risk of developing OA increases with age and is most common from middle age onward. We now know that OA is a disease of the entire joint, including bone, cartilage, ligaments, fat and the tissues lining the joint. OA can degrade cartilage, change bone shape and cause inflammation, resulting in pain, stiffness and loss of mobility.
